Unfortunately, a simple incident has occurred with my student at Casteel High School, where I simply wanted an acknowledgment of wrongdoing and an apology from staff, but it has come to the point now that I cannot ignore how the administration has continuously dismissed and ignored facts.

Considering I know many other students and parents have experienced similar issues, I am at the point where I cannot let this go.

I am writing to address a concerning issue involving the handling of student reports regarding inappropriate actions by certain staff members at Casteel High School and within the Chandler Unified School District.

Unfortunately, these reports have been consistently misrepresented, ignored, and discounted by school and district administrators, leaving many students and parents feeling unheard.

Last semester, my daughter expressed that she experienced bullying by her yoga teacher, Ms. Mary Joyce Ramirez.  Student witnesses came forward and were interviewed by Principal Jason Phillips. Despite providing evidence including recorded conversations of interviews, emails, and copies of official witness statements that clearly contradicted Phillips’ claims that the students did not report what they absolutely had, the District (CUSD) has chosen to officially state the issue has been resolved, and no wrongdoing ever took place.

Immediately after I began to publicize this behavior in August, Ms. Mary Joyce Ramirez filed a police report falsely claiming that I had been instructed not to contact her, I was continually harassing her, and although we had never met, she claimed she feared for her safety.  Ramirez then made multiple additional false claims in official court documents to have a restraining order granted against me.

Although school and district officials understood that I was well within my rights as a parent, and I had not violated any laws, they fully supported the false claims made by Ms. Ramirez. I was forced to relinquish my firearms and was not allowed within 500 feet of the Casteel High School campus while the restraining order was enforced.

I was require to request a court hearing to present my complete documentation of the truth, and expose the lies Ms. Ramirez had officially reported. Weeks latert the court did not conclude that I was ever instructed not to contact Ms. Ramirez, and found that I was not considered a threat to Ramirez, my actions were not considered harassment, and all of my behavior was well within my rights as a parent. As a result, the restraining order that was initially granted, was dismissed.

Furthermore, the court admonished the union representative for the CUSD, stating that “the only reason this situation has escalated to this point is because the principal (Jason Phillips) did not do his job, and this fact should be addressed by the district.”

This behavior has compelled me to take action, as I cannot ignore the fact that many other students and parents have faced similar challenges. It is crucial that we address this pattern of dismissal and ensure that all reports of inappropriate behavior are acknowledged and properly addressed.

Multiple lawsuits are being processed and will soon be filed.

We invite you to join us in seeking accountability by sharing any instances of inappropriate conduct mishandled by school or district administration that you or your student may have experienced. Together, we can work towards creating a safe and supportive environment for all students. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
